Kiteboarding is the fastest growing sport in the world. It can be done almost anywhere. On land, on the water, and even on the snow. All you really need is wind and some equipment. With proper instruction, most people can be riding in less than a week, but Kiteboarding is a progression. A sport that you’ll always get better at but never master.
There have been huge advancements in kite, board, and bar technologies which have increased the learning curve dramatically. What once took months to learn, now take days.
Crossing over to Kiting from other sports?
Windsurfers will love the fact that the gear is smaller and easier to set up and travel with. Those marginal winds that plagued windsurfers in the past are now perfect for kiteboarding.
Surfers will love the Waves. They’ll get more waves on a down winder than they’ll get in an entire summer of surfing. It’s like tow-in surfing without exhaust fumes.
Wake boarders will love the softer landings and they can do the same tricks as wakeboarding and then some. No boat required.
Snowboarders/Skiers will love that fact that there are no more lift tickets. They can ride untouched powder because they are the only ones able to get there. They can use their existing board or skis too.
Style
Wake style: All wake style riders dream of flat glassy water that you can see your reflection in. There are many riding opportunities for wake style riders. Depends on the location, wind speed and direction.
Free Ride: Whether it’s blowing 10 knots or 30, free riders are just happy to be on the water. They love sending the kite as hard as they can and flying as far as they can. All they want is Big Huge Air.
Surf Style: They dream of smacking the lip of a 10 ft. face, gouging out a trench on the bottom turn, and doing it all over again as long as the wave continues. The session completely depends on how good the waves are. No more waiting in line for that awesome wave and no more paddling. Pick and chose all you want. The whole line is at your disposal.
The background of Kite Boarding:
Kiteboarding or kitesurfing as it is also known, is an exciting water sport of the new century. Over the past several years, kiteboarding has exploded in popularity. The number of riders has increased from a few hundred in 1999, to tens of thousands worldwide today. As a result, the industry has expanded to offer a variety of commercially available products to satisfy the demand.
Kiteboarding was born with windsurfers seeking better performance and fun in lighter winds. One of the sports greatest strengths is its universal appeal. Preteens and parents, sailors and para gliders can all draw on their experiences.
A definite adrenaline rush:
As soon as traction kites were introduced, thrill seekers applied the technology to practically anything that moves including snowboards, mountain boards, carts or "buggies", kayaks, roller blades, and ice skates. It wasn't long before someone began thinking of ways to use the power of these kites on the water, in a manner similar to windsurfing.
Our Commitment to you:
We're dedicated to providing the most fun and safe learning experience to anyone, young or old, the sport of Kiteboarding. We feel it's our duty to be dedicated in promoting kiteboarding safety and education to anyone who is interested in learning to ride. Our primary goal at Patriot Kites is to educate interested kiters about kiteboarding safety and many other important factors involving the sport. Kiteboarding is a fun and safe sport if you go about it the right way. Because kiteboarding is potentially dangerous sport, professional instruction is a must before going solo. After taking lessons, it's up to the student as to his or her progression. The more you put into learning in the beginning, the faster you'll get the hang of riding.
